🚀 HOMESCHOOL SCIENCE: Remembering Space Pioneer Robert Goddard

Today is the birthday of Robert Hutchings Goddard (1882–1945), the inventor of the liquid-fueled rocket that is the basis of all modern space flight. Every American science student should know his name.

Here’s a grand old 18-minute NASA documentary from 1961 about Goddard’s life and work, done in the dramatic news-reel style of the day. It’s a great historical document to share with your homescholars this week.

And some day on your homeschool travels, if you visit Washington, D.C., consider taking a side trip out to nearby Greenbelt, Maryland, where you can go along on a tour of one of the biggest NASA research facilities in the country: the Goddard Space Flight Center.
