The spooky stories and poems of the great American writer Edgar Allan Poe (1809β1849) are Halloween favorites the world over. If you’d like to add some literary spookiness to your homeschool this Halloween, why not light a candle, turn out the lights, and treat yourself and your students to Poe’s classic poem “The Raven,” read by famed British actor Christopher Lee (1922β2015). (You may remember him as Saruman in The Lord of the Rings.)
Here’s a printable copy of the text so your students can read along by candlelight. (So much wonderful vocabulary! Circle every special word to look up later in your family dictionary.)
