It’s Library Tuesday in the River Houses, but first, we interrupt this post for an important message from the President of the United States (that would be Franklin Roosevelt) on how to cook a turkey: “Feathered game should never be plucked until just before it is eaten. Taking off the feathers dries up the meat.”

Although food and books (as material things) are best kept apart, cooking and libraries most certainly go together! On this Thanksgiving week, when food is on everyone’s mind, why not browse some amusing notes on the culinary collections of the Library of Congress (including President Roosevelt’s stern directive):
Your local library has cookbooks too β have you and your students browsed them? If yours is a Dewey-Decimal-based library (most public libraries are), the magic number is 641.5. Perhaps you’ll have a few minutes to check some out this week before the long post-turkey sleep sets in. π¦
What delicious educational discoveries have you made at your library lately? π
