🌼 THE HOMESCHOOL YEAR: Keep Your Appointments With April

One afternoon at this season, many years ago, the great philosopher George Santayana (1863–1952) was in the middle of an academic lecture to students at Harvard University. And then he suddenly paused beside an open window. A brilliant yellow forsythia bush was coming into flower just outside.

“I’m sorry, gentlemen, but I will not be able to complete that sentence. I just remembered I have an appointment with April.” He took up his hat and walking stick and left the lecture hall, never to return.
