If you’re feeling a bit cooped up these days, pause here for a moment, turn the sound up, and let American composer Stephen Paulus (1949–2014) and the choristers of King’s College remind you of how much beauty there is in the world, and how home is the right place to be:
“The Road Home” is one of our traditional Thanksgiving Day pieces here at the River Houses, but this seems like a good time to listen to it again. This beautiful performance took place at King’s College, one of the constituent colleges of Cambridge University in Great Britain. The King’s College Choir, made up of university undergraduates and a special group of younger choral students — many of them the same ages as your homescholars — is one of the most famous choirs in the world, and King’s College Chapel, constructed beginning in the fifteenth century, is one of the world’s most beautiful spaces.
If you’re safe and at home this week, then you’re in one of the world’s most beautiful spaces too. 🏡
